Uncle Bugler's Ponderables
Posted November 6, 2009 by Bugler

From time to time you may find something to ponder here. I will post opinions, speculations and other musings for your enjoyment. This is not intended to be a regular blog. When I see an item of interest or when something pisses me off, I will post it with comments. I live by my words. My actions speak for what I believe.

Your responses are welcome as long as you understand the following caveat: Cogently presented opinion by those who have minds and demonstrate the ability to use them will be respected. Inane, disjointed pewling by those who are out of their minds will be ridiculed.

This is based on the theory that an effective weapon against a stupid idea is mockery. With that in mind, lets keep it civil, impersonal and not let the dialogue degenerate.

Remember, kids: “A man of words but not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds.”

Item 1

Word has it that consummate fun hater and dead zone of all that is playful and pleasurable - Dr. Drew will be appearing on VH1 with a new "reality" show about "sex addiction".

He's supposed to be a physician, a person of education and intellect. Does he not know that there can be no such thing as “sex addiction” unless it’s considered to be utterly pandemic. We are hard-wired to be “addicted” to sex. It is the very basis of our survival. There would be no human species (nor any of the higher ones for that matter) without the basic compulsion to copulate.

Since we humans possess education and intellect, we have the capacity to explore beyond the mere basics of procreation. We can have fun with sex. We are meant to experiment and to play with it (and each other). It is a life-long journey of discovery which can lead to blissful satisfaction if we keep our minds open.

I acknowledge the existence of psycho-sexual pathology. If that is what concerns Dr. Drew and his producers, they should say so rather than cynically preying on the guilt, prejudices and the prurient (in the true sense of the word) interests of their viewers.

Remember, kids: Have fun and don’t let the guilt-ridden haters spoil it for you.
